Face It
Given: 2 paper plates, 1 Styrofoam cup, 2 rubber bands, 5 paper clips, 2 sheets white paper an 1, 8" sheet of aluminum foil
You may use the following to help construct the mask only!
1 pair of scissors, one roll of tape, markers and crayons
The team has 5 minutes to construct a mask using the materials given.
At the end of the 5 minutes, the teal will have 2 minutes to discuss and explain who or for what purpose the mask
would be used. One member must be wearing the mask
You will be scored by the following:
Overall creativity of the mask (use of materials).. 1-50 points
Overall teamwork.. 1-25 points
Explanation (purpose or use) .. 1-25 points

Bonnets Galore!!
Given: 2 paper plates, 2 paper cups, 2 rubber bands, 4 gold fasteners, 2 straws, 2 index cards and one spring from a ball point pen.
Judges will have the tape, scissors and a hole punch available for construction only
You have 3 minutes to create a bonnet for each team member using the items provided
Team members cannot talk to one another, but may communicate in nonverbal ways
After 3 minutes, team members, while wearing their bonnets will have 2 minuted to share ways that their
bonnets may be used in other ways.
Scoring: Three points for each bonnet created, 5 points for using all the items, 1 point for common responses of
other uses of bonnets and 3 points for creative responses.

Build a tower with a spool of thread, a ruler, 10" of tape, a pencil and scissors without speaking
Receive 3 points foe every inch of height

Given: 30 pieces of spaghetti, 1 cup of mini marshmallows, 3 mailing labels, 4 straws and 10 toothpicks
Materials to place on structure: 1 golf ball- 10 points, 2 tennis balls- 10 points each, 5 balloons- 5 points each,
20 ping pong balls - 5 points each.
You have 8 minutes to complete the problem. You are to build a structure with the materials provided
The structure must be at least 3" above the table to count for score.
You will place items on top of the structure
You may be scored at any time during the 8 minutes.

Given: A ball of clay 1 1/2" in diameter, 4 straws, 4 blindfolds, 6 toothpicks and 50 paper clips
One team member will serve as Director and the remaining members will be blindfolded.
The team will have one minute to plan strategy, three minutes to build a structure and one minute to add the paper clips.
The blindfolds do not have to be worn during the 1 minute planning time.
At the end of planning, team members will put the blindfolds across their eyes.
The Director will (during 3 minute building time) direct the team members in building a structure which will support paper clips
The Director may not touch any of the building materials or paper clips
After the 3 minutes of building, the blindfolded team members will have one minute to add paper clips
Scoring: 3 points for each inch of height of the structure
1 point per paper clip
1-25 points for teamwork

Given: one blown up balloon, 1 up balloon, one straw, one piece of paper, 2 toothpicks, a string and tape
Attach and move the balloon across the string without using your hands.

Given: One tennis ball in a 12 foot taped square
Remove the tennis ball without stepping in or touching inside the taped area

Given: A medium sized fish tank, 2 dixie cups, 6" duct tape, 2 straws w/ wrappers, and 20- 3/16" nuts
Create a naturally buoyant structure.
You will receive 50 points for being a buoyant device and 1 point for every weight held without sinking.
