Give each team member one marker. The team is given one sheet of paper on which is drawn an oval, square, rectangle, circle and triangle.
The first team member makes one mark on one of the figures, makes an opening statement to begin a story and passes the paper to the next team member. Each person makes a mark and adds a statement to the story. Two minute time limit.

Given: 21 tennis balls marked with 3 different colors, 2 file folders, 5 mailing labels, a business envelope, 1 paper towel tube, 2 paper clips, 2 rubber bands, 6" of string and 2 pencils.
The team must throw the colored balls into goal boxes without touching the ball with any part of their body or without crossing a line within 3 feet of the boxes.
Label the goal boxes as follows:
#1: Orange balls = +10 pts.
: Green balls = 0 pts.
: Yellow balls = - 5 pts.
#2 : Green balls = +10 pts.
: Yellow balls = 0 pts.
: Orange balls = - 5 pts.
#3: Yellow balls = +10 pts.
: Orange balls = 0 pts.
: Green balls = - 5 pts.
The team has 2 minutes to plan their strategies and 4 minutes to complete the problem.

Given: 4 paper cutouts- a square, circle, triangle and rectangle for each team member
Start to the judge's left and continue in sequence. Use any or all of your shapes to create something and describe what it is.
You may fold shapes but cannot cut or tear them.

Given; 10 Styrofoam cups, 20 coffee stirrers and a 3 lb. coffee can
Build a structure with the cups and stirrers to support the coffee can (and additional weights) .
You have 2 minutes to think and discuss and 5 minutes to build
Time stops to test the structure.
10 pts .. 8" high structure
2 pts extra or each inch above 8"
20 pts for supporting the can, creativity and teamwork
2 pts for every 5 nails the can will hold

Given: 2 81/2 x 11 pieces of paper, 3- 36" balsa sticks, 3 sticks of wrapped gum and 3 each of nickels, pennies, quarters and dimes
Build a structure using the above materials (may use gum wrappers). Place the coins in top of the structure for as many points as you can
Quarters = 5pts, dimes = 1pt, nickels = 3 pts, pennies = 2 pts.

Given: One box of tissues (box may not be used) and one hard cover book
Using only the tissues, a structure must be created touching only one object in the room (table, chair, coat rack) that supports the book.
Scoring: 2 points for every inch of height the book is (if the tissues are removed, how far will the book fall)

Given: 4 straws, 4 rubber bands, 1 8 x 11 1/2 piece of aluminium foil, 1 plastic cup, 4 mailing labels, 4 index cards, 10 toothpicks, and one ball of clay
There is a disaster on planet OM. The team needs to use the material provided to build a space vehicle to get them to
planet OM. The space ship can also be used to help out in the disaster.
You have 5 minutes to think, 8 minutes to build and explain how your vehicle can help the planet OM

Given: 6 plastic straws, 6 cotton balls, red, yellow & blue markers, 16 toothpicks, 6- 3x5 index cards and sotch tape
With the above materials, create the design of an new postage stamp.
